This truth hit me hard during one of the most challenging times of my life. No one could sit in the chemo chair for me—but me. No one could rebuild my body—but me. And no one could take the steps I needed to take to create the life I envisioned for myself—but me (I’m a two-time cancer survivor).
This deep sense of self-reliance is what’s powered me through building a business that’s 14 years strong, cultivating a healthy marriage that’s thrived for 12 years, and crafting a life full of moments others said were impossible.
At 27, I took a big leap and ran for public office. Just one year after the 9/11 attacks, I knew I had to do something—anything—to contribute to a better future. I’d just finished my Master’s in Diplomacy and International Relations, and I was ready to serve. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. I was known as the leader who asked the tough questions—the ones that opened eyes, shifted thinking, and made people reflect deeply.
This ability to ask precise, laser-focused questions became my signature. It’s the same skill I now use to help heart-centered people like you—humanitarians, givers, and leaders—discover the blind spots that hold them back. Because here’s the thing: if you don’t lead yourself forward, who will? (That’s a Christi-ism.)
